Alex Pagulayan outlasted a tired but determined Johnny Archer to claim the title at the Diamond 10-Foot 10-Ball Challenge being hosted by Harrah’s Casino in Tunica, MS. The $10,000 added pocket billiards event, which started on July 23 and featured 16 of the top players in the world as part of the Southern Classic. Pagualayn pocketed $12,000 for his efforts with Archer pocketing $7,000.
Pagulayan fought hard to keep Archer down most of the set but the set eventually moved to 14-14, going to 15. In the end, Archer broke and made a ball and then nearly scratched after pocketing the first ball. Archer would relinquish the table with ball in hand to Pagulayan, who ran out the remaining balls to win the set, 15-14.
