Woburn Win for Dupree New England 9-Ball Series / Woburn, MA by Skip Maloney Joey Dupree faced and defeated Ivo Petro twice to finish undefeated in the New England 9-Ball Series event held on April 20. The $300-added event drew 22 entrants to Silver Cue Billiards in Woburn, MA. Early in the day, Dave Fernandez, who’d been sent to the one-loss bracket by Dan Simoneau in the first round, struggled back to come within a single match of facing Dupree in the finals. While Shane Cote, fresh off his defeat at the hands of Dupree on the winners’ side, was busy defeating Mike Mantchello, Fernandez was eliminating Pete Kramer, who’d fallen to Petro. With a strong 7-2 showing against Cote, Fernandez moved into the semifinal match. In the meantime, Dupree and Petro were meeting in the winners’-side final, with Dupree earning the hot seat.
