Déjà Vu in the Finals of the U.S. Amateur ChampionshipWinner of Men’s and Women’s Division Advance to ‘06 Pro ChampionshipsLAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (November 18, 2005) — Spectators who showed up for the finals of the 2005 U.S. Amateur Championship did a double-take when they saw who was left standing in both divisions of the highly competitive 3-day event.The finals of the Women’s Division pitted Karen Armstrong of Bear, Del., against Amy Poulter of Port St. Lucie, Fla. The two were both undefeated when they went head-to-head on the final day of the tournament. It was Armstrong who would advance to the finals with a 5-2 win. But with only one-loss, Poulter still had a good shot at earning redemption. After she defeated Laura Poskus of Ocean City, Md., in the semifinals, the stage was set for the rematch.
