Reyes Reaps his Reward
Canadian 30K Tour / Scarborough, Toronto
by Willy Hermoza
Ed Reyes triumphed on the Canadian 30K Tour’s April 7-8 stop, taking first place over Jason Klatt. Hosted by Shooters Billiards in Toronto, this event pulled in 35 billiard players.
McEarl Bucais bested Al Lougheed 6-7 to advance to the hot seat match against Reyes, who had just defeated Wayne Tate 7-4. The hot seat battle was quick and decisive, as Reyes sent the young Bucais to the one-loss side 8-4.
Dominating the top of the west side, Scott McDonald eliminated Lougheed 8-6, while Klatt ousted Tate 9-2. In a thrilled double-hill match, Klatt bested McDonald 10-7 to advance to the semifinals, sending McDonald home with fourth place. Klatt then edged out Bucais in another great hill-hill match. In the finals, Reyes simply gave Klatt no opportunities as he quickly went to work and never looked back, winning 7-6.
