Basavich Steams on Undefeatedby Matthew PingorParsippany, NJ / Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour - Solid turnouts, amazing talent, tough competition—the Joss Northeast 9-Ball tour was back in swing January 22 at Comet Billiards of Parsippany, NJ. A field of 52 attended the $6,160-added event and was treated with the pleasure of watching Dan Basavich run undefeated for another first-place finish. Friday, 13 January 2006
Efren Closes Day 1 of the International Challenge of Champions By InsidePOOL Staff In the match of the evening between Efren The Magician Reyes and Nick Van Den Berg, Reyes triumphed 7-4 after his opponent hung the case 9 ball in the jaws of the pocket. The young and obviously talented Van den Berg did not appear to be intimidated by Reyes, who was recently inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame last month. Reyes pulled into a 3-1 lead early on, but Van den Berg fought back and got within a game of his opponent at 5-4 Reyes. With a couple of balls slopped in, Reyes reached the hill in the next rack with him breaking the next game.

The one-of-a-kind pool event that laughs in the face of conformity, legitimacy, and the need of a human being for sleep. Forget things like corporate sponsorship and tuxedoed contestants—this is the place where legends of a different sort are bred. Mixed in with those notables are a potpourri of hustlers, railbirds, and jailbirds from all corners of the USA. They all run out, woof with gusto, and bet high. They also all have their own language for letting you know how things went. ...
