Arizona Women's Billiard Tour Gives to Worthy CauseBy InsidePOOL Staff The Arizona Women's Billiard Tour has teamed up with the Sojourner Center based in Phoenix, AZ. The Sojourner Center is a women's shelter for victims of domestic violence, and the AWBT has proudly donated money and clothes in the past year.
The Sojourner Center was founded in 1977 and accommodates up to 128 women and children. Some members of the AWBT Board toured the facility and were immediately impacted. "We couldn't keep from thinking how fortunate we all are," said in a written statement, "while other women have to struggle to keep themselves and their children safe while trying to live productive lives."For the past several months, the AWBT has been accepting donations of money, clothing, and household goods, and they've also raffled off a J. Pechauer Custom Cue with 10% of the proceeds going toward the cause. Most recently, the AWBT made a contribution of $160, enough to give shelter to one woman for almost 10 days. In 2005, the AWBT will be accepting donations for the Sojourner Center at their events, with hopes of giving even more this year. If you are interested in donating or playing in an event, the AWBT will have stops at the following locations during 2005.
