Back-to-Back Titles for LampertBy Bill Fuller Amanda Lampert once again proved her prowess, as she defended her Houston Open title on April 3 at Legends Billiards in League City, TX. Lampert ran through the 36-player field undefeated, ousting Heather Pulford in the finals. While Lampert, Pulford, and Kim Pierce were barreling through the field, Corina Campbell and Katherine Carmichael garnered some of their best finishes. Carmichael finished in fifth with Helen Hayes, while Cambell took both Lampert and Pierce to hill-hill before bowing out in fourth. With Pierce's win, she advanced to the semifinals to face Pulford, who fell to Lampert 7-2 in the hot seat match. However, back-to-back hill-hill matches wore Pierce down, and Pulford earned another chance at Lampert in the finals. Both Pulford and Lampert have dominated the women's pool scene in Texas in the past year, and just like many times before, both ladies advanced to the final match to compete against one another. However, Lampert had Pulford's number on this day, easily winning 7-1 to take home her second straight Houston Open.
