Junior National 9-Ball Championships OpeningBy Dan Billingsley, InsidePOOL Staff A lot of excitement raced through the University of Arizona in Tucson on July 21, 2004, as more than 150 competitors registered for their shots at the BCA Junior National Championships. These juniors, ages ranging 18 and under, have traveled from all over the nation to test their skills against the best. It was announced that a team will be selected from the top finishers to represent the US in Sydney, Australia.
The opening ceremonies were held in the Tucson Marriott. It was evident that there was certainly a theme resonating from all the speakers … Education is your greatest asset! The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) handed out several awards to the young players again to play up the importance of school and getting good grades. After the ceremonies, the crowd made its way to the University Game Room where Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman, Okinawa Slim, Tiffany, and a few other pros put on a show. There were some great trick shots exchanged and challenges taken by the juniors and pros alike. It was a great time for all. The next few days promise to be chocked full of some great games of 9-ball. Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
