BCA Junior National Shoot-Out at the UofA by InsidePOOL Magazine

Rakin, from San Francisco, was an ice queen showing no emotion in the first go-round, however, Kostanian found a few blocks of ice herself and took the first match 9-5. The final match couldn’t have been better as every person in the house was on the edge of their seats. Back and forth the game wins went, 7-6, 7-7, then Rakin found her stride and took the championship with a final set score of 9-7.

14 and Under / Open:

Chris Futrell (14 ) and Jose Rivas, Jr. (14 ) went to work lending great skills to their craft. Rivas opened Game one and snagged it quickly. Futrell, keeping focus, never blinked and walked away with a 9-3 win in the first set and a 9-2 win in the second. With his guns smoking, Futrell claimed his spot as champion.

18 and Under /Open:

They came, they shot, they did good! only one young gun could walk away from this match, and the duel between John Morra (18) and Tyler Strawn (18) held the attention of a large crowd. The shoot-out lasted a good while as these guys worked hard both with the cue and their minds. It was a give-and-take event as many of these finals are. The game tied three times at 7, 9, and finally it went to hill-hill. Strawn has the break and scratches the cue-ball. Morra makes quick work of finishing with an 11-10 championship win.
