BCA League System Under New OwnershipA positive move for both players and the industry

 Colorado Springs, CO - The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Board of Directors announces that Mr. Mark Griffin has purchased the BCA League System, which includes the BCA National 8-Ball Championships. The effective date of management transfer is June 1, 2004. Mr. Griffin will continue to work closely with the BCA staff for a smooth and efficient transition.

 "We are confident that the sale has strengthened the billiard industry," said newly elected BCA President John Stransky. "The Billiard Congress of America will now focus exclusively o­n promoting billiards through a variety of trade and player programs. With Mark Griffin, the BCA League System will concentrate o­n the player's needs and will continue to provide an exceptional league experience as well as the world's largest pool tournament, the BCA National 8-Ball Championships."

 Mr. Griffin has stated that he will make very few changes. The 2004 BCA National 8-Ball Championships will be held May 14-22 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas,  NV. It will be administered by the current BCA staff and directed by Mr. Gary Benson of High Country Promotions. "The 2004 tournament is o­n track to be the biggest in our 28-year history, said BCA Executive Director Stephen Ducoff. "Our staff is processing over 10,000 entries and finalizing all of the details that go into producing this world-class event. The 2005 tournament will also be held at the Riviera (May 13-21), and we are all working together to bring the players the best league system and national championships that we possibly can."

 Mr. Griffin will establish the BCA League office in Las Vegas, NV. He has shared some of his plans to expand the BCA League System and its events o­n his website.
