Bergman Dominates Memphis Super 9-BallBy InsidePOOL Staff A talented field of 46 players made the trek to Memphis, TN, for the High Pockets Super 9-Ball tournament. In all, 11 states, Canada, and Mexico were represented, with some of game's top amateurs in attendance. The April 2-3 event at High Pockets drew Illinois sensation James Baraks, Buddy Hall, Scotty Townsend, and 17-year-old Justin Bergman, who dominated the field to earn the victory. While Bergman was earning win after win, a few lesser-known players were coming through field earning respectable finishes. Blake Todd and James Walden were two of those competitors who were looking to earn a "W" in the weekend event. But both ended up being victims in Bergman's run to the finals. Todd pushed Bergman to the brink in their hot seat match, falling 11-10, forcing him to try his hand against Walden in the semifinals. Walden, who had ousted Baraks to reach the semis, also took care of Todd, to advance to the finals to face Bergman, and he kept it close most of the way through. In the end, though, Bergman was just too much for Walden, closing out the match for the 11-8 victory. Results: 1st Justin Bergman $7,210 2nd James Walden $3,742 3rd Blade Todd $2,820 4th James Baraks $1,360 5th Josh Dielgler, Sparky Ferrell $680 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
