In the finals this afternoon, Ashcraft, who is an excellent regional player and placed fourth at last year's Glass City Open in Toledo, OH, went head-to-head with Tuula. This race to 9 was fairly close until the last. Up 8-5, Ashcraft broke and left the 9 ball in the corner. He tried for a 2-9 carom but missed, and a safety battle over the 2 ball ensued. After a miss by Ashcraft, Tuula snooked his opponent on the 4. Ashcraft played a jump shot but drove the cue off the table, and Tuula played the 5-9 combo to get the score to 8-6. But in the final rack, Tuula left Ashcraft an easy 4-9 combo, which he made to win 9-6.
