Breedlove Captures Viking VictoryBy Bill Rosenberger The Viking Cue Open 9-Ball Tour stopped at Sharkey's Billiards in Collinsville, IL on January 29-30, and drew some unexpected guests. George Breedlove and his wife, WPBA pro Jeanette Lee, participated and added some spice and excitement to the playing field. Lee's appearance drew attention from both players and fans, but it was Breedlove's performance on the tables that brought home the win. He not only earned an undefeated victory but knocked his wife to the left bracket during Saturday's action. Lee's tournament ended with a tough defeat to Andy Quinn on Sunday, leaving her to sign autographs while she watched her husband bring home the bacon. Breedlove met Joe Wolford in the hot seat match, and it was close most of the way through. In the end, though, it was Breedlove's late charge that earned him the 9-6 win. After Quinn ousted Lee, he knocked out 17-year-old Justin Bergman to reach the semifinals against Wolford. The two battled back and forth, but Wolford edged out a 9-7 win to force a rematch with Breedlove in the finals. The final match was again close between Breedlove and Wolford. As the match drew closer to the end, it was up for grabs, but Breedlove gained the momentum and scored the 9-7 victory.
