Brothers Claims Another First-Place Win on Hampton Ridge Tour Josh Brothers came from behind to take yet another win on the Hampton Ridge 9-Ball tour. The participants were not deterred from playing on July 18, 2004, when a power failure at Planet Pool in Limerick, PA, forced the event to relocate to Classic Billiards in Phoenixville, PA. The tour would like to give special thanks to owners Cindy Lee, Steve Choy, and man's best friend Max for hosting the event on such short notice.
Leading the action on the winners' side were Phil Sherman and Eddie Abraham. It was Sherman who defeated tour regular Josh Brothers 7-5, forcing the young player to battle through the one-loss side in his bid for the finals. Brothers met Randy Schwager in the match to determine fourth place, where he cracked through the racks to gain a comfortable lead. Staying in control the entire match, Brothers ended it 7-4 over Schwager. Eliminating opponents on the winners' side earned Abraham a spot in the hot seat match opposite of Sherman. Dominating the match, Sherman dealt Abraham his first defeat of the day, sending him to the one-loss side with a final decision of 7-3. Brothers was waiting for his opponent, eager to battle for a spot in the finals. Coming on full-tilt, Brothers jumped into the lead and never looked back. Abraham was relegated to third place when Brothers took the win 7-2. After seesawing through a long string of racks, Sherman and Brothers tied the final match 6-all. Brothers ran out the thirteenth rack to edge into the lead 7-6 in the final race to 9. Missing a shot on the 3, Sherman allowed Brothers to the table, where he ran out to reach the hill. A great shot on the 1 ball left Brothers a sweet 2-9 combo, which he tidily made to take the win 9-6.
