Brothers Wins Inaugural Hampton Ridge Event The Hampton Ridge 9-Ball Tour kicked off their first event the weekend of April 17-18, 2004, with Josh Brothers coming through the one-loss side to take top honors. The stop was held at Bob Maidhof’s Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hilll, PA, just outside of Philadelphia, and attracted 44 players that balmy weekend.
The intriguingly nicknamed “Bristol Bob” coasted through the winners’ side of the charts fairly easily, defeating tough players such as Joe Long 6-4, Phil Sherman 6-5, and Tim Murry 6-4 to reach the hot seat. Brothers had a different trip in store for him. Coming through the brutal bracket after suffering a loss to Murry 6-4, he got back into stroke with wins over Trenton Marty 6-2 and Phil Sherman 6-2. He triumphed in a rematch with Murry 6-3 to reach the finals with Mr. Bristol. Bristol drew first blood, but Brothers came back and won the next five games in a row to make it 5-1 in the race to 9. The two players traded innings at the table, with Bristol reaching the hill first with the score at 8-7. However, Brothers was able to pull out his “A” game and win the next two racks in a row to win the inaugural event 9-8.
