Cooke Fries the Field on Tidewater Tour by InsidePOOL Magazine

Cooe Fries the Field on Tidewater Tour

By Bill Rosenberger

The Tidewater Tour has done well in its first year.  Just ask Tommy Cooke, who took home his second tour victory on Sunday, November 14 at Pastime Billiards & Pub in Greenville, NC.

The room owners not only have 14 tables, but they are also very accommodating to the tour.  "They have been very generous to us this year [on both of our stops]," said tournament director Buxton Turner.

Cooke was one of six players to advance to Sunday's action, and he stepped up to plate in the hot seat match.  Down 4-0 to Delton Howard, Cooke battled back to tie it up at 4 apiece.  The two traded games to put the match on the hill at 6-all, but Cooke kept control of the decisive game to take the match 7-6.

Howard then faced Montez Lloid in the semifinals and had no trouble in advancing with a 5-2 win.  Howard had not only earned a spot in the finals but forced a rematch with Cooke.

In the race-to-9 final match, the two competitors paraded their offensive skills.  Down 6-5, Howard worked the table to even the match, but Cooke carried the next two games to go up 8-6.  Cooke then handled the last rack for the 9-7 tour victory.

Results:1st Tommy Cooke $4102nd Delton Howard $2353rd Montez Lloid $1504th Curtis Coleman $805th Mike Jackson, Adam Davis $50
