Daniel Takes His Game to North FloridaBy J.A. Barnes Twenty-seven players showed up for the Fury North Florida Tour's third stop on March 13 at Jewel's Billiards in Gainesville, FL. Two strong players from the Central Florida Tour brought their games a couple hours north, and both were looking to notch another win on their 2005 resume. Julio Aquino, who has already earned two wins this season, and Tim Daniel, who won his first just a few weeks earlier, were looking to play spoiler to the tour regulars. Aquino, though, earned one of his wins on the North Florida Tour and is also the points leader. Daniel and Aquino met up in the finals, but both took different roads to get there. Daniel went undefeated, compiling a 35-12 record, including a 7-2 win over Chris Walls in the hot seat match. Aquino, though, fell 7-5 to Rick Rogers in his first match, but he tallied four straight victories to reach the semifinals against Walls. And, after a 5-2 win, Aquino was ready for his match up with Daniel. In the finals, Daniel and Aquino battled right down to the wire, with one final game deciding it all. In the seventeenth game, Daniel ran through the rack to earn the 9-8 victory, his second of the season.
