Daulton Makes Big Withdrawal in Bank Event by InsidePOOL Magazine

Daulton Makes Big Withdrawal in Bank Event

By Tom Martin, InsidePOOL Staff

Shannon Daulton defeated Chicago’s Marco Marquez in the finals of the bank pool event that brought a close to the BCA Nationals. Daulton, knocked into the one-loss bracket early in a surprise upset to Ronnie Allen, caught on fire and decimated his opponents thereafter, winning most of his race-to-5 matches in under a half-hour.

In the semifinal match Tom DiLorenzo, who lost the hot-seat to Marquez, put up a valiant fight but eventually was forced to bow to the awesome shooting power of the “The Cannon.” Marquez also played impressively in the single-set race-to-6 final, but Daulton was firing balls in from everywhere and consistently running threes and fours. Daulton was quickly ahead three games to none when Marquez put several nice banks together to avoid a shutout. He would make only one more bank in the next two games combined, as Daulton forged on to a 5-1 victory. Daulton earned $2,300 for first, Marquez banked $1,400 for second, and DiLorenzo picked up $800 for his efforts.

The men’s/mixed team 9-ball event, which ended earlier in the day, saw local team “Jerry’s” from Las Vegas, NV, emerge victorious, crushing Lakewood, CO, team “Greenfield’s” in a surprisingly one-sided final. “Chad” and “Dick’s Picks” finished third and fourth respectively, resulting in three of the top four place finishers being from The Cue Club here in Las Vegas.

1. $2,800 Jerry’s

2. $1,700 Greenfield’s

3. $1,000 Chad Stokes

4. $670 Dick’s Pick

5-6.  $400 Coastal Sharks #105 / Stardust Untouchables
