Davis Gets up and Goes in Greenville

by InsidePOOL Staff

Former Reno Open champion and UPA Rookie of the Year, Mike Davis lambasted a 38-player field at the Greenville Open to take first place.  The event was held on May 21-22 in conjunction with the J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour and was their second stop of the 2005-2006 season.  on Cue Sports Bar & Billiards hosted the event and generously added $1,000 to the total prize fund.
Davis’s play was consistent throughout the two-day event, and ultimately he ended up in the hot seat match facing former U.S. Open champion Tommy “TK” Kennedy.  He defeated the tour director in a thrilling hill-hill match, sending him to the one-loss side.
Charlie Brinson came through the one-loss side to face Sparky Farrell in the quarterfinals and best him 9-8 to reach the semis.  There he faced a motivated Kennedy, who soundly defeated him 9-2 in order to force a rematch against Davis in the finals.  In the extended single-elimination race, Davis could do no wrong, and it wasn’t long before he swept the match 11-4.

Results:

1st Mike Davis
2nd Tommy Kennedy
3rd Charlie Brinson
4th Sparky Farrell
