Davis cruised through the winners’ side to the finals, where his eventual opponent was Robb Saez, who suffered his first loss to Davis and then defeated Vierra in the semis to attempt his revenge. As the event was a true double-elimination tournament, Saez had to best Davis twice to take the title. Davis jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Saez bounced back to knot the score at 4. They swapped wins until both reached the hill at 8-all with Davis breaking. He made the 8 ball on the break, ran out to the 5, and then ducked. After a safety battle, Davis missed a hit, and Saez ran out to take the first set. In the second set, Davis got to the hill with a four-game lead, but it wasn’t long before he started looking over his shoulder as Saez took the next two games to make it 8-6. After Saez came up dry on the break, Davis studied at the 1 and the cueball practically frozen together and then made the 1 with a brilliant long bank. He followed this up with another long bank on the 2 into the same pocket and then cleared the table for a hard-won 9-6 victory.
