Adkins was primed and waiting for Deuel's arrival in the semifinals.  Deuel's hunger for a rematch with Slone and a for a shot at the title proved too much for Adkins, who had to settle for a third place finish after he was defeated by Deuel.

The tournament was a true double-elimination event, and the finals were no different.  Deuel would have to defeat Slone twice in order to take home the championship.  Commanding the finals from the start, Deuel did just that.  He took the first set with a 3-1 win, and shut out Slone 3-0 in the second set
