Festive Field at AWBT Event

The sprawling facility of Kolby's Corner Pocket in Tempe, AZ, was the site for the Arizona Women's Billiard Tour Stop, held o­n October 30-31.  Susan Mello bested a field of 20 women who came out to play for $850 in prize money. 

The 8-ball event was a race to 5, and ladies were encouraged to dress up for Sunday's Halloween finals.  Some of the craziest costumes came from Mello, Susan Williams, Liz Bernreuter, and Meiko Yamanobe.

The wild costumes didn't prohibit great evening matches, as Mello met Williams for the hot seat.  Mello was able to keep her undefeated weekend alive with a win, while Williams had to face Bernreuter in the semifinals. 

Williams took the semifinal match and headed back to the winners' bracket to face Mello in the double-elimination finals.  Mello was too strong, and she swept the set 5-0 to take first place. 

However, the games o­n the table weren't the o­nly contest going o­n Sunday night.  The ladies also held a costume contest, which came down to an angel, three disco girls, and a court jester.  Yamanobe's disco outfit earned her the first-place prize of a pumpkin candle.
