Field Narrowing at Capital City Classic by InsidePOOL Magazine

Another California player, John Schmidt (pictured), defeated Bob Deturk 10-0 and then knocked Jose Parica into the "B" side of the chart 10-8.  Schmidt recently won the biannual Reno Open at the Sands Regency Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV, last June, defeating Alex Pagulayan in the finals.  He will face Mike Davis, the New Englander with the devastating break, at 7 p.m.

The "Earthquake," Keith McCready, is back in action in the City of Brotherly Love, defeating Billy Kirschner 10-6 in the first round and losing to Bill Blanda in the second in a tight hill-hill match.  In between matches, McCready seems to have no problem finding something to do ...

Korean sensation and runner-up to Efren Reyes in the Mid-Atlantic 9-Ball Open, Young Hwa Jeong won his first match against excellent Pennsylvania player Ryan McCreesh and then was defeated by Jose Garcia in a 10-9 nailbiter.

Other notable names in the one-loss side are Shawn Putnam, Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour's Player of the Year; Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich; Robb Saez; Jarrod Clowery; and Danny Harriman.

The one-loss side matches begin Friday at 1 p.m., while the winners' bracket matches will begin tomorrow at 7 p.m.
