In the women’s division, InsidePOOL Magazine’s 2003 Female Pro Player of the Year, Allison Fisher, advanced after a 9-5 victory over Gerda Hofstatter, while Hsin Huang sent Shin-Mei Lui to the o­ne-loss side after a 9-6 decision.  “The Black Widow,” Jeanette Lee, suffered her first loss to former world champion Julie Kelly in a hill-hill match, and Karen “The Irish Invader” Corr sent Monica Webb to the west side after a 9-1 blowout.

In the o­ne-loss side matches late in the evening, Luc Salvas advanced over fellow Canadian and left-hander Jeff Kennedy with a tight 11-9 win.  John Schmidt has been playing well and eliminated Paul Potier 11-9 and will meet Johnny Archer o­n Thursday.  Efren Reyes continues through the west side as well, defeating world champion Thorsten Hohmann 11-8 and Jimmy Wetch 11-2.  Shannon “The Cannon” was eliminated by Danny Harriman in another hard-fought match that saw Harriman the 11-7 winner.

Hall of Fame member Ewa Laurance was eliminated by Ramona Biddle in a hill-hill match, and Jennifer Barretta also was shown the door by Germany’s Sandra Ortner 9-5.  Stacy Hurst had an excellent event, going through the o­ne-loss side to eliminate Megan Minerich 9-3 before being ousted by Alice Rim 9-3. 

Thursday’s matches will end with o­nly three players remaining in each division.
