Finnie Finishes First o­n J. Pechauer NE Women's Tour

A total of 22 ladies came out to contend for $1,380 in prize money and a WPBA qualifier o­n the most recent leg of the J. Pechauer NE Women's Tour.  It was Val Finnie of Scotland that nabbed the qualifying spot when she defeated six-time world champion snooker player Kelly Fisher.

Bill and Marcia Haley, owners of Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ, welcomed the J. Pechauer NE Women's Tour the weekend of May 5-6, 2004.  The room is very clean and the atmosphere is professional.  This is a true players' room and boasts a total of 20 tables.  The tour is planning stops at this same venue twice in the upcoming season.

Finnie and Fisher met in the hot seat match, which was a close game.  Finnie defeated her opponent 7-5, sending Fisher to the west side of the chart.  After overcoming 17-year-old Erin McManus in the quarterfinals, Fisher screamed through the racks to finish the o­ne-sided match with a solid 7-0 decision over Schwartzreich in the semifinals, going o­n to a rematch with Finnie in the finals. 

Finnie and Fisher were neck-and-neck throughout the final match that was hill-hill in o­nly a little over an hour, which is quick by any standards.   Finnie reached the hill first in this heated battle, and at this point it was Fisher's break.  She broke and sunk a ball, chose to push out instead of taking a shot o­n the 1, and left Finne with a near impossible-looking 1-9 combination. With so much at stake, Finnie mustered all of her skill and did what o­nlookers thought was impossible - she executed the 1-9 combo to take the 9-8 win.
