Fisher Gets Back on Track with Amway Cup Title

By InsidePOOL Staff

Allison-Fisher.jpgAllison Fisher started off 2005 with two straight WPBA wins but finished a modest fifth at the last event.  on May 10, she regained her usual form by winning the 2005 Amway Cup over Ga-Young Kim in Taiwan.

Fisher reached the finals by winning the "B" bracket with a 4-1 record, followed by a semifinal victory over Karen Corr.  Kim's trek to the finals came with a dominating 7-2 win against Shin-Mei Liu in their semifinal match.

On the final day, Corr and Liu battled for third place, while Fisher and Kim played for the title.  After Corr nabbed third with a 7-4 win, the title bout got underway.

Right from the start, Fisher showed her experience over the young world champion by running to a 5-1 lead.  Although Kim tallied a few wins, Fisher countered every one, taking the final Amway Cup 11-6.  In 2006, the event will be known as the WPA Women's World Championships.
