Fisher Takes JPNEWT Finale

By InsidePOOL Staff

Tina,-Kelly,-Val.jpgKelly Fisher came from the one-loss side of the chart to take JPNEWT's final event over Tina Meraglio at Hagerstown Billiards in Hagerstown, MD, on November 27-28.   Fisher completed her comeback victory by overcoming a second-round defeat by road partner Val Finnie.

Fisher earned wins in the west side over Simone Hospedales, Kathleen Lawless, Pam Ogarek, Carol Clark, and Karen Armstrong before meeting Finnie again in the semifinals.  Finnie's undefeated bid ended with a hot seat loss to Meraglio 7-2.  Finnie then watched as Fisher turned the tables and posted a victory to reach the finals.

In the finals, it was as if Fisher was the undefeated player going after the victory.  Meraglio's valiant tournament effort was put to rest with a convincing 9-1 by Fisher.

Finnie's third-place finish was worth more than just the payout.  She also secured the JPNEWT's Player of the Year with her top finish.

Results:

1st Kelly Fisher $440

2nd Tina Meraglio $330

3rd Val Finnie $225

4th Karen Armstrong $125

5th Carol Clark, Eric McManus $50
