John T. Wright Memorial Tournament Scheduled Viking tournament director Mike Janis and Quentin Corner Pockets owner Mark Haddad are teaming up to host the first John T. Wright Memorial Tournament on December 18-19. Wright, a custom cue dealer, passed away on October 15 in his hometown of Palatine, IL. "Mark and I decided to do this," said Janis. "John played in a lot of Viking events and was fun to be around." According to Haddad, Ron Derueda, who was a close friend of Wright, asked him about hosting an event that would honor one of Palatine's nicest men. "Ron kept asking me about doing this, so we're happy to do it honor of our friend," said Haddad. "John was in here almost everyday," "He'd come in and show his stuff that he had. John was a great guy, and this is something I'd like to do every year." Haddad said the number of participants will be limited to 128, and he won't be surprised to see that many because of all the friends Wright had. Questions about the event can be directed to Mark Haddad at Quentin Corner Pocket by calling 847-705-1361. The entry fee is $40 and players must have a Viking Card to participate.
