The Glass City Open is being held at the Clarion Westgate in Toledo, OH, and drew a total field of 114 excellent local and professional players. The staff at the Clarion is courteous and helpful, and the accommodations are reasonable and pleasant. In the one-loss side, Dee Adkins continues with a 10-1 victory over Greg Hager and a 10-3 win over Tony Reams. Adkins, who broke his arm several months ago, has been out of commission since because he will be unable to get his arm properly set for three more months. However, he has been showing a great deal of heart in showing up at tournaments, one of which he played left-handed in. At Glass City, he has been playing right-handed as of yet.
Third-place taker at the recent U.S. Open, Keith McCready is continuing his assault on the west side of the chart. He scored a forfeit over Randy Stuart early Friday, and then he sent Ian Costello packing with a 10-4 score. Elsewhere in the left side, Larry Nevel defeated Danny Barnes 10-3, and Buddy “The Rifleman” Hall won his match against Jeff Hoeksema 10-3. Hoeksema was responsible for the elimination of Tony Watson earlier today by the score of 10-5. Golden boy and recent victor at the Corpus Christi Classic Open 9-Ball tournament, Gabe Owen continues to romp through the winners’ side with a 10-8 win over Canadian player Jon Jorgensen. Also in the winners’ side, Corey Deuel won his match against Larry Wiggins 10-6, and John Binion defeated Danny Wardrop 10-8. Visit InsidePOOL for the latest in the sport of billiards and pool.
