Kieselat Wins First Fury Midwest EventBy Bill Rosenberger The Fury Midwest Amateur 9-Ball Tour kicked off its first season on January 15-16 at Hit-n-Run Billiards in Flint, MI, to an enthusiastic field of 36. According to tournament director Sandy Schuman, not even the frigid weather and devastating windchill could keep the event from being a success. Lansing, MI, resident George Kieselat had the best weekend, roaring to the win, but he faced some good competition in players like 23-year-old Casey Ward and "Bar Box" Barry Childers. Kieselat and Ward matched up in the match prior to the hot seat contest, with Kieselat winning easily 7-2, but Ward made his comeback on the west side. While Kieselat advanced to the final match with a hot seat match win over Lee Lambaria, Ward ousted Ed Duensing, followed by a win over Lambaria in the semifinals. Ward got another chance at Kieselat in the final match and did improve greatly against him. But while the scoring changed, the outcome didn't, as Kieselat took the victory 9-6. Results: 1st George Kieselat $440 2nd Casey Ward $250 3rd Lee Lambaria $180 4th Bob Constable $100 5th Eddie Duensing, Ardell Hargrave $75 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the Fury Midwest Amateur 9-Ball Tour.
