Lordi Locks Into First at Pechauer Stop Paul Lordi did not let a hot-seat defeat by John DiToro disrupt his quest for first place on the August 7-8, 2004, stop of the J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball tour at Victory Billiards. After a close battle for the hot seat, Florida Pro Tour director DiToro prevailed 9-7, dealing Lordi his first defeat of the day and sending him to the one-loss side. Arriving on the one-loss side in the match to determine third place, Lordi squared off against Claude Merrier, who had just defeated JPSE tournament director Tommy Kennedy in the quarterfinals. The match was one to watch, with Merrier and Lordi going neck and neck until the very end. Lordi finally squeezed past his opponent to take the win 9-8 and move onto the final match. The undefeated DiToro was watching and waiting for the rematch to begin. Determined to turn the tables on DiToro, Lordi shot out to a comfortable lead. Even though DiToro staged a comeback, it was not soon enough to stop Lordi from taking the win with an 11-8 final decision.
