McNally Takes Second Hampton Ridge StopBy InsidePOOL Staff Pat McNally's third-round defeat didn't deflate his game. Instead, he composed himself, winning five straight matches to come back and earn a win on the Hampton Ridge 9-Ball Tour.
Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill, PA, hosted the second stop on March 6, with 37 players filling the bracket. Some of the top competitors included Lee Holt, frequent tour winner Frankie Hernandez, and Josh Brothers, while McNally wasn't much of a contender until Sunday night's last matches. The two leaders who appeared to be heading to victory were Holt and Billy Kirshner, who emerged undefeated to face off in the hot seat match. The match was one-sided most of the way, as Holt raced to a 7-3 victory. In the one-loss side, McNally was making his comeback, ousting Trenton Marty, Brothers, and Phil Sherman to reach the semifinals against Kirshner, who was the one that sent McNally to the left side in the third round. The two traded games back and forth, reaching hill-hill, with McNally avenging the only blemish on his record 7-6. Holt and McNally both came into the race-to-9 final match playing their best pool. The offensive contest went back and forth until it was 8 apiece. In the decisive game, McNally controlled the table and ran out to the victory.
