Moore Braves the Weather and Wins First Place by Tori Hilty Eric Moore played with as much intensity as the storm raging outside of Q Master Billiards in Virginia Beach, VA, as he whipped his way into first place at the Fury Tidewater Amateur 9-Ball Tour event. Tropical storm Charlie pummeled the area, but that did not deter the 35 players who came to participate in the $1,000-added event held the weekend of August 14-15, 2004. After defeating Bill Mason 5-2 in the match to determine fourth place, Paul Genovese waited for the outcome of the hot seat match, where Moore and Dave Bollman were facing off. Moore took control from the start of the match and kept it to deal Bollman his first defeat of the day with a 7-4 victory. Although Genovese was playing strong all day, Bollman got out to a 3-1 lead in the semifinals. Genovese got a few more racks, but had several misses in this match that allowed his opponent to take the 5-3 win, setting Bollman up to face Moore once again. Bollman was left trailing as Moore jumped into a 2-0 lead in the race-to-9 final match. The efforts Bollman made to close the gap paid off only enough to get three racks on his side of the board before Moore pulled ahead to take the win 9-3, making him the undefeated winner.
