Moore Breaks Into Winners' Circle in North FloridaBy J.A. Barnes The Fury North Florida Tour's sixth stop brought many new players to the May 15, event at Brown's Billiards in Holly Hill, FL. A day of exciting 9-ball and tournament firsts took place as several fresh faces stepped into the cash bracket, including Trevor Moore who took home top-honors at the event. Matt Bauries, of Dayton, FL, ran through the field with four wins including a 7-4 victory over Robert Otto to earn a place in the hot seat match. on the bottom of the winners' bracket, Moore racked up wins that included a decisive victory over Ray Pollanz. Bauries and Moore battled back and forth in the hot seat match, but it was Bauries who claimed the match 7-5. On the "B"-side, Pollanz had shutout Otto 5-0 and Bruce Choyce 5-1, and appeared to be in fine form for the semifinals. Moore had the upper-hand as he had defeated Pollanz 7-2 earlier in the day, but this time it proved to be a much more difficult task. At hill-hill, Moore kept his composure, though, and he put away the final nine to advance on to the finals. In the rematch final between Moore and Bauries, neither player could gain the upper hand. Before the set, Moore had won the coin toss for break and in the alternate break format he took his turn at 8-8. A solid break and a wide-open table helped Moore seize the momentum fast track to taking home first.
