Mosconi Cup Teams Announced by InsidePOOL Magazine

The full team is:

Johnny Archer (Georgia) Captain

Rodney Morris (Hawaii)

Gabe Owen (Oklahoma)

Tony Robles (New York)

Earl Strickland (South Carolina)

Charlie Williams (Florida)

Commented Archer, “The whole team will be really pumped up for the event this year. I think Gabe is going to be a big asset to our team.

“We had a great win last year after being down going into the last day and that was about team spirit. I think we all are in good form and we’re really excited for the event in December.”

For the Europeans there are three changes as Oliver Ortmann resumes the playing captain’s role after leading the team from the stands last year. Fellow German Thomas Engert makes his second appearance following a two wins from five starts record in 2000 as does Dutchman Niels Feijen who played in 2001.

The full team is:

Oliver Ortmann (Germany) Captain

Marcus Chamat (Sweden)

Steve Davis (England)

Thomas Engert (Germany)

Niels Feijen (Holland)

Mika Immonen (Finland)

Ortmann is naturally delighted at the prospect of playing again after a year on the sidelines, “My game is in terrific shape but the Mosconi Cup is all about being a team.

“We have some fantastic players representing Europe this year and with the backing of the fans I believe that we can bring the Cup home.

“We saw with the Ryder Cup what can be achieved when a great set of players come together as a team and my job as captain starts today.”

This is the eleventh running of pool’s answer to the Ryder Cup and the current score stands at 8 – 2 to the Americans.

Once again, the entire event will be live on Sky Sports in the UK as the two six man teams battle it out in a series of singles and doubles matches over four days.

The official sponsors of the 2004 Mosconi Cup are Brunswick Tables, Simonis Cloth, Super Aramith Pro Balls and Predator Cues.
