Mountainous Win for MontureBy Bill Rosenberger Adam Monture finally reached the mountaintop with his win on the 10K Tour on March 5-6 at Color of Money Billiards. Seventy-two players gathered in Niagara Falls, ontario, for the weekend event, but Monture was on his game and took home the comeback victory.
Sunday's money matches brought back 12 players, including D.J. McInley and Al Maracle, who won the last 10K Tour event. The two top players battled it out in the hot seat match, with McInley winning easily by a score of 9-2. In the one-loss side, Monture was doing his best to stay alive by soundly ousting Dave McMahon 7-1 and Dan Doerner 8-6 to reach the semifinals against Maracle, who was looking for a shot at back-to-back wins. But Monture kept his hot stroke going by dominating Maracle and winning 7-1 to earn a trip to the finals. In the finals, Monture's hunger for the victory was apparent, as he raced out to an early lead. McInley came back and made it interesting, but in the end, Monture captured the title 8-5.
