Press Release

October 7th, 2002

New York, New York

Dr. Diane Elaine Sorrentino, in a lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York in the County of New York, is seeking compensatory and punitive damages from the Women's Professional Billiard Association (the WPBA) and the individual members of the organization's Board of Directors.

Dr. Sorrentino's action is in direct response to President Jan McWorter’s and the WPBA Board's actions in regards to their publication and dissemination of alledged libelous and slanderous statements to the membership of the WPBA, the directors of the sanctioned regional tours of the WPBA, the general public through the billiards publications and their websites, and the fabrication and falsification of the charges used as the basis to dismiss Dr. Sorrentino with cause from her position as Secretary and an elected member of the WPBA Board of Directors.

In addition to Jan Mcworter, board members Kelly Oyama, Stuart Mattana, Monica Webb and Candi Rego were named in the suit.
