Munson Nabs Viking Tour WinBy Bill Rosenberger Willie Munson captured an undefeated victory at Quentin Corner Pockets in Palatine, IL, besting a low 43-player turnout in the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour event held on November 20-21. His final match victory over Mike Moran clinched the well-deserved win.
The players and fans who showed up didn't seem too disappointed, as the competition was tough enough to make for some exciting matches. The hot seat pitted Munson and Moran, and neither player was able to get a strong early lead. But Munson edged Moran out in the end to send him to the semifinals, propelling himself to the final match. Moran faced Scott Cohen in the semifinals, and it looked like Cohen might pull out the win. But with the match on the hill, Moran was able to control the table for the 7-6 win. Munson and Moran squared off in the finals, but Munson took an early lead and kept it, winning 7-5.
