Not So Little of a Performance by InsidePOOL Magazine

Not So Little of a Performance

By Bill Rosenberger and Steve Jennings

eddielittle-furycarolina.jpgEddie Little has had enough of coming in second or third on the Fury Carolina Tour.  on Saturday, February 19, he finally broke through with a win at The Green Room in Pineville, NC.

The field of 34 players was small, but the talent in the room was not lacking.  Fans and players alike were aware that something special was in the works as Little and Cary Dunn disposed of their opponents one after another.

Dunn, who finished second at the season opener in January, appeared ready for a run at the top spot, compiling an overall record of 35-9 to reach the final match.  That also included Little's only defeat, which came in the hot seat match.

Before Little's 7-4 setback to Dunn, he had knocked out four straight opponents with a record of 28-9.  In the semifinals, he faced David Brown, one of the players he put in the one-loss side only a few matches earlier.  Little was able to do it again, sending Brown home with a third-place finish, while advancing to the finals against Dunn.

In the race-to-9 final match, Little put on a big performance, racing to a quick 4-0 lead before Dunn even got a chance to tally a win.  Little racked up two more wins for a 6-1 lead, and after another game for Dunn, he ran to the hill.  Down 8-2, Dunn was able to notch a couple wins to get within four games, but it was clearly Little's night, as he finished off the final game for a 9-4 victory.

"After all those second-place finishes, this one really feels good," Little said after the win.  "The hard work finally paid off."
