Orme Dominates Classic Billiards for Joss WinBy Bill Rosenberger Chris Orme's victory at Classic Billiards on April 2-3 was described as "never in doubt" by Joss tournament director Mike Zuglan. The Rochester, NY, poolroom hosted the 42-player tournament, but none of Orme's opponents really threatened him. However, it was the Canadian players that took most of the glory in the event, as Orme and Bob Chaperon battled it out in the finals, while D.J. McGinley came in a tie for seventh. Then there was the 2004 Seniors champ, Howard Vickery, who shot up north to try his hand in the Joss Tour event. And he performed well, too. Sunday afternoon's closest match featured Vickery against Chaperon, with Vickery simply outlasting his opponent for the 9-7 victory. But Vickery didn't last much longer either, as Orme earned another quick win to earn the hot seat. Vickery headed to the semifinals to face Chaperon, who had just ousted Dan Kolacz and Bucky Souvanthong to advance. This match was just like their previous except for the outcome. This time, Chaperon came out on top 9-6 to reach the finals against Orme. However, Chaperon never seemed to have a chance, as Orme completed his undefeated weekend with a 9-2 win. Zuglan also announced before the tournament got underway that the Joss Tour season finale, which was postponed last month, has been rescheduled for August 18-21. The $25,000-added event will be played at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY. Interested players can contact Zuglan directly at 518-356-7163.
