PA State Moose Tournament a Success by InsidePOOL Magazine

PA State Moose Tournament a Success

By InsidePOOL Staff

On April 22-24, 256 Moose Lodge members from all over Pennsylvania flocked to Lewistown Lodge #143 for their annual 8-ball championships.  Three tournaments were played at the weekend event, including a four-man team event, and a singles and doubles tournament.  A full field of 64 teams took part in the tournament, and officials said they had to turn away 20 applications because the bracket had filled up by March 2.

The team competition was double elimination, with each team playing six games per match, and all teams were guaranteed three matches.  Participants in the singles and doubles events were determined by their play in the team competition.

There were 434 matches and a total of 1,440 games played on 10 tables in just over 30 hours.  The team event was won by Randy Beers, Jason Banney, Cory Eberole, and Jim Six of Carlisle #11.  Bob Krause and Lee Trythall of Potterstown #2 took the doubles competition, while Windber #2's Rob Beard claimed the singles title.

With all the interest shown at the 2005 event, tournament officials are now considering expanding the number of teams to 128, but for now, they are going to applaud the success of this year's tournament.
