Pachebat Earns Title in New York by InsidePOOL Magazine

Pachebat Earns Title in New York

 by John Leyman

As spring arrives and dedicated players eye the large tournaments around the country, the Tri-State Tour's 8-ball events help them prepare. Amsterdam Billiards and Bar, the beautiful and well-regarded room in the heart of New York City, played host to the tour's May 7-8 event, which was composed of 30 players who came to display their 8-ball skills.  Roger Pachebat's outstanding performance took center stage as he claimed victory.

Michael Yednak and Pachebat took all the other players to task. Yednak's drive towards the hot seat led him past Chip Wheeler, Holly Pachebat, Brendan Ince, and previous tour stop winner Jay Wright.  In the meantime, Pachebat had bested Sal Marcelo, Hiram Sherman, Michael Thomas, and Liz Schwartzreich on his way to the hot seat meeting with Yednak.  Pachebat showed off his 8-ball skills and easily topped Yednak 6-1 to advance to the finals. Yednak's arrival on the one-loss side set up a showdown with Wright, whose game has been steadily improving.  The match was close, but Yednak emerged victorious from atop the hill, earning the right to face Pachebat for a rematch finals.

The final match proved to be much closer than the previous meeting between the two competitors.  Both players played a stellar match, and soon they found themselves at hill-hill.  Yednak's miss on a difficult 8 ball shot resulted in a chance that Pachebat capitalized on, running out the table and winning 6-5.
