Stoney Stone Goes Undefeated to Win Park Avenue Billiards' Open 9-Ball Tournament

Park Avenue Billiards hosted its Quarterly Open 9-Ball Tournament with 45 players competing for the $1,500 first place prize.  Leading the field were Buddy "The Rifleman" Hall and "Little" David Howard, both two time US Open Champs.  In addition top regional players such as David Grossman, Doug Young, Larry Gayle, Butch Croft, Bob Ogburn, Josh Degler, Jim Sandaler, Stoney Stone, Rod Rentz, Harley Bryan, Shane Sinnott and up and coming player John Tatum were in the field.  Buddy Hall was the early favorite after not losing a game in his Saturday Night "Beat The Pro" contest.

on his way to the "Hot Seat" Stoney defeated two of Park Avenues best, Butch Croft and Larry Gayle, before sending Rod Rentz, one of Georgia's top players to the loser's side.  In the meantime Bob Ogburn was sending local favorites Allan Johnson and David Grossman to the loser's bracket before meeting Rod Rentz.  Rod sent Bob to play with the loser's with a 7-4 win to setup a match with Stoney for the "Hot Seat."  Stoney prevailed with the match going to the hill.  The lose by Rod set up a repeat match with Bob Ogburn that also went to the hill with Bob the coming out on top.  The Championship Match between Stoney and Bob was a match between new talent and the old guard ended with Stoney Stone coming out on top 9-6, to take the $1,500 first place money.

Other matches of note had Josh Degler sending Buddy Hall home after he lost to "Little" David Howard in his first match.  John Tatum dispatched Buddy to the loser's side only to be defeated by local room owner Harley Bryan.  Reaching the Championship Match was no easy task as Bob Ogburn had to defeat Doug Young and Josh Degler to setup the rematch with Rod Rentz.

The Payout was as follows:

Stoney Stone $1,500
Bob Ogburn    $500
Rod Rentz    $250

Buddy Hall       $60
