Pole Wins Last Event of the 2003-2004 Tri-State Tour Season Arriving at the Tri-State Tour's 2003-2004 season finale with hopes of winning first place in order to garner the 105 points he needed to enter the invitational event in July, Robert Pole accomplished what he set out to do. A field of 37 players came to Amsterdam Billiards and Bar in New York City, NY, on June 26-27, 2004, to compete in the "A," "B," "C," and "D" class 9-Ball tournament hoping to guarantee their spot in the upcoming invitational event in July. Geoffrey Bauer, "B"-Class player of the year, played well all weekend long and arrived in the finals unscathed after handily defeating such players as Christopher Knowlton, Hiram Sherman, Tim Edmonds, Jason Kane, and Robert Pole. Playing with conviction the entire tournament, Pole defeated Mike Davie, Michael Thomas, Edward Ng, and Noel Bensurto before being sent to the one-loss side by Bauer. Winning his match against Jason Kane on the one-loss side, Pole moved within sight of his goal of playing in the finals. Double-dipping Bauer in the finals was the only way that Pole would be guaranteed the 105 points needed to secure a spot at the invitational. Second place just would not be good enough to give him the points he needed. Playing exceptionally well, Pole won the first set with a commanding score of 7-2.
