Putnam, the pre-tournament favorite, gave his normal "bull in a china shop" treatment to the no-loss side of the tournament bracket by besting Mike Gulley 8-5, Will Johnson 8-2, Ellis Arden 8-5, Stan Shuffet 8-6, and finally Tony Mougey 8-1.  Arden Elliott earned his ticket to the finals by overcoming Robert Beck 8-4, Rick Royster 8-2, Stan Shuffet 2-8, Mike Janis 8-6, Ellis Arden 8-6, Danny Brown 8-1, newlywed Travis Stamper 8-4, and Tony Mougey 8-3.
