Putnam Double-Dips Wells in Viking Event by InsidePOOL Magazine

In the hot seat match, Wells crushed Joe Brown 7-0 and waited for the winner of the Putnam-Brown battle.  Brown, from Dayton, OH, played exceptionally well against Putnam, giving him a run for the money, but was vanquished by the four-time Viking Player of the Year by the score of 7-5.

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour has a true double-elimination format, and Putnam rose to the occasion brilliantly.  He put a four-pack on Wells in the first set, winning that 7-2, and then in the second set had Wells down 6-2 when a safety error ended up costing him three games.  With Wells within a game at 6-5, Putnam bore down and ran the remaining rack out for the 7-5 win.

Tournament director Matt Janis reportedly did an excellent and commendable job, running the event perfectly.  Though somewhat young at 15 years old, he appears knowledgeable about the game and to have a good understanding of his duties.
