Red-Hot Brothers Takes First Undefeated by InsidePOOL Magazine

Red-Hot Brothers Takes First Undefeated

Josh Brothers not only took the twelfth stop of the Hampton Ridge 9-Ball Tour as an opportunity to polish his skills before heading to the U.S. Open but to also further secure his number-one spot on the points list by taking first place at Classic Billiards in Phoenixville, PA, on September 5, 2004.   Brothers had stiff competition in the final match in the form of Pennsylvania 9-Ball Champion Eddie Abraham but prevailed to take top honors.

With both Al Waldo and Mike Miller just coming off big wins over Scott Sutterby and Tom Bow, respectively, they were in stroke as they faced each other in the match to determine fourth place.  Miller jumped ahead 4-0 but Waldo fought back, winning the next seven games in a row to win the match 7-4.

On the winners’ side, Abraham and Brothers met for the first time of the day to see who would get the hot seat.  The two played a great match, going back and forth until it was 4-4.   Wanting to be the one in the hot seat, Brothers pulled from his opponent by winning three in a row, taking the win 7-4.

Abraham went to the one-loss side where Waldo was waiting.  Getting in stroke early in the match, Abraham never looked back as he left Waldo in third place with a 7-1 win.

The final match saw Brothers shoot out to a 3-0 lead over Abraham, but Abraham answered back, taking the four games to bring the score to his favor 4-3.  Brothers fired right back by claiming the next three racks, again moving into the lead with 6-4.  Staying in the game, Abraham knotted it at 6, and then they proceeded to trade innings.  However, Brothers got a couple of rolls, giving him the next two games and the match 9-7.
