Schjodt Retains Top Spot on Fury Ladies Tour by InsidePOOL Magazine

Schjodt Retains Top Spot on Fury Ladies Tour

By Bill Rosenberger

Orlando’s Pro Billiards saw exciting action from the Fury Florida Ladies Amateur 9-Ball Tour on Saturday, September 18, as Debbie Schjodt kept her points leader position by coming back from the one-loss bracket to best Niki Rasmussen in the final match.

Tournament director Kay Higgins said that Debbie had earned it after playing so emotionally in her quarterfinal loss and her semifinal victory.

“Those were some very emotional matches out there this weekend,” said Higgins.

In the quarterfinal match between Jennifer Nelson and Helene Caukin, Nelson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Caukin managed to put a win on the board.  Despite this, Nelson swept the final two games, winning 5-1.

The hot seat match saw Rasmussen send Schjodt to the left side of the chart 7-5, but Schjodt battled back against Helene Caukin in the semifinal 5-3 to earn her rematch with Rasmussen.  Schjodt jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back as she cruised to victory.

Nelson’s fourth-place finish kept her in second place overall in the points standings. Schjodt remains the points leader, with Nelson and Rasmussen rounding out the top three.  Caukin, with her third-place finish, jumped from seventh to fifth in the standings.
