Schjodt Scores Second Victory on Fury Tour by InsidePOOL Magazine

Schjodt Scores Second Victory on Fury Tour

FuryFLLadiesCaukin_Schjodt_.jpgDebbie Schjodt proved she is someone to reckon with when she edged out a small but tough field of competition to take first place on the most recent stop of the Fury Florida Ladies Amateur 9-Ball Tour on July 10, 2004.  The $300-added, one-day event was held at the Trick Shots Billiards' Orange Blossom Trail site located in Orlando, FL, and drew a modest 16 participants.

Tour regular and previous stop winner Niki Rasmussen was knocked out of the running for the money spots at this event when she was defeated by Lorraine Aquart in her first match.  Also tasting defeat in the first round was Jessica Barnes, who was sent to the one-loss side by Traci McCreary.  The two met again in the quarterfinals where Barnes knocked McCreary out of the tournament and settled into fourth place.

Before arriving in the hot seat match, Helene Caukin had to face Jennifer Nelson.  Caukin defeated her opponent with a 7-5 decision, only to be defeated by Schjodt in the hot seat match.

Caukin met up with Nelson again, this time on the west side of the chart, battling to see who would be relegated to third and who would move onto the final match.  In a turn-around of their previous match-up, Nelson defeated Caukin, winning the right to move onto the finals with a final decision of 5-2.

The final match between Schojdt and Nelson was full of anticipation and great shooting.  Nelson jumped to an early 5-3 lead but missed on the 9 ball, giving Schjodt the opportunity to bring the score 5-4.  With consistent runs to reach the hill, Schjodt left Nelson trailing at 6.  Schjodt closed the final game in championship form with a 9-6 score, taking her second Fury Florida Ladies Amateur 9-Ball win and earning an entry into a Ladies Spirit Tour event.

Results:

1st Debbie Schjodt $280

2nd Jennifer Nelson $170

3rd Helene Caukin $110

4th Jessica Barnes $60
