Second Day of the Japan Cup Complete

Hohmann6114.jpgThe sixth Japan Cup has wrapped up its second day, leaving only sixteen of the world’s finest in the winners’ bracket.  Filipino giants Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante still have both bullets.  Germany’s Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann, both world champions, together with Mika Immonen of Finland and Charlie Williams are all on the right side of the bracket.  Roel Esquillo and Kiyoshi Suzuki also advance to the final 16.

The most remarkable match in the second day was between Kiyoshi Suzuki and Antonio Lining of the Philippines.  Suzuki came back from being down 4-0 to tie the match on the hill, going on to win 9-8.

Reigning world champion Thorsten Hohmann got into the zone, deals defeats to Masayuki Shimada and Ramil Gallego, both by the commanding score of 9-3.

Antonio Lining, Ramil Gallego, Jeong Young Hwa, Hiroshi Takenaka, Shintaro Sugaya, Go Takami, and Syuji Nagata still remain on the one-loss side, while Warren Kiamco, Dennis Orcullo, and Terukazu Mukai are already out from the games.
